When last month’s edition of Better Outcomes was distributed, we were all starting to appreciate the gravity of Covid-19 and its potential impact upon our lives and livelihoods. Since that time, the implications have hit most of us hard, and will continue to do so for months to come.
Like most of you, our Business Partners, we are a small business operator. We share the challenges many of you are facing. In this monthly newsletter, we want to focus on the things we can all control, rather than on the areas we can’t.
By committing to a focus on the areas of business that you can control, recovery will be quicker than for those who do not share your discipline.
For example, for those of you operating as business owners we encourage you to dedicate time to investigate the various government initiatives underway to support you through these challenging times. Some useful links are listed below:
- Job Keeper program
- Government guaranteed small and medium business loans
- Increased instant asset write-off
- Coronavirus Business Liaison Unit
- Commercial tenant relief
- Job Seeker program
- Coronavirus mental wellbeing support service: Beyond Blue
For those of you who work for a business owner, we encourage you to be supportive of them in the same way you’d expect it of them towards you. Work hard and pay attention to the detail of the tasks at hand.
Practice adaptability… It’s a valuable skill which will hold you in great shape for the future.
As an industry, finance is not exempt from the turbulence of this pandemic. However, let’s remember that this situation is not forever.
Now just may be a great opportunity for you to enhance your business for the future!
Here are some tips for consideration:
- Review and update your internal policies,
- Enhance current systems,
- Improve processes that have become inefficient,
- Reach out to your existing client base (even if it’s simply a welfare check),
- Undertake training,
- Develop and Coach others, and
- Try new and innovative ways to reach customers previously not sought.
A friend of ours once told us “good habits are learnt in tough times” (thanks Martin!). It’s a good adage and it’s your opportunity for today, next week and over coming months.
We started this business because of our passion for Finance Broking and surrounding industries. We truly love helping business to create Better Outcomes via coaching, training, developing new operational standards and ensuring compliance standards are optimal. If we can help you make the most of these quieter times in such ways, don’t hesitate to call us on 1800 954 488 or reach out via www.saleskey.com.au.
Stay well everyone!
Scott and Darren.
